For my project, I created a 2d platformer titled,” Cypher”. The game explores the effects of AI technology on future civilizations. A common trope is AI taking over the world and human civilization. I played on this trope in my game as well. The game starts in 2094, and robots have taken over the world, the last remaining humans are forced to hide, collecting parts with the goal of one day creating a device that will shut down the robots. The main character is essentially a cipher she has no recollection of her past and only knows that she is not like the other artificial intelligence created. She has a consciousness, which means that she was a human before she was captured and fused with tech. The other drones do not and have one goal of ‘fixing” humans. This leads to them trying to find and capture her. Their main goal is to reprogram to fit back into the system. The user can collect glitches that add as a gift to Cypher, the power-up which is a bolt makes her jump higher for ten seconds so she can avoid the robots. There are two enemy types drones and cops.
