The celebration of Black Womxn and their unwavering resistance to challenges against democracy is the focus of Reflections of Resistance. The piece highlights the evolution of Black women's role in civil rights movements, spanning from the early days to the present.
Through the stories of three remarkable women, we see how each one fought for democracy in their own unique way, while still reflecting the collective struggle of Black women everywhere. The struggles faced by Black women in the early civil rights movements were immense, yet they persevered as providers for their families and organizers of these movements. Today's BLM movement is a continuation of this legacy.
Through this piece, we wanted to shine a light on the often-overlooked stories of the mothers, sisters, and women who were part of their communities, and who fought for democracy in the face of adversity. These stories deserve to be heard, and this piece serves as a celebration of Black womanhood.
